The Cross Coupe that focuses strongly on style will be out in 2015. The Tiguan has been a big seller in the past, and so Volkswagen was anxious to spin off a smaller model of it from its small model range.
There will be a crossover model of the MQB platform that the new Cross Coupe and Tiguan will rest on.
There will be a 2.0-liter turbo four with over 200 horsepower. There will be a fuel-conscious choice until the plug-in comes out with a 1.4 liter four and double electric motors. There might be all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive will be the basic though.
There will be some competition from Land Rover and Mazda.
Buyers might not like their sport utility vehicles being so underpowered though.
The price should be under $30,000, and the model should arrive in 2014 or 2015.
