Recently we saw the launch of a new Audi Q8 which gave some sights for the appearance of a new RS Q8 model.
Audi was testing a Q8 and as we know the last test is for Audi RS Q8. We are confident in this because it has large frontal intakes, large drilled brake rotors, and also the two big oval exhaust tips. The last feature is a well-known trait of Audi Sport design.
We watched many signals that Audi RS Q8 is coming. We have discovered that Audi had made trademark protection last summer and they showed Q8 sport concept on 2017 Geneva show.
Audi Sport is going to twice increase cars produced during the next two years and SUVs are the number one priority for them. Now they have only one SUV model – RS Q3, but RS Q5 and this RS Q8 will complement it.
While the usual Q8 model competes with mid-size like BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, the new RS Q8 will compete with better versions of those cars: the BMW X6 M, Mercedes-Benz GLE63, Rover Sport SVR respectively.
It is sad, but we have no specs out but we assume that there is twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with near 600 horsepower under a hood. The same is in the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera Turbo models. This output will make RS Q8 more powerful compared to concurrents which have approximately 550 horsepower each.
Also, it is possible that Audi will pair a V-8 motor with an electric engine. It’s known that this combo presents in the Porsche’s Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and behaves quite good as for 680 horsepower. Porsche is eventually going to add this power to Cayenne, which has the same platform as in Q8, so we will see it in Audi RS Q8
