Skoda scoop: the five-year plan

The Volkswagen is still trying to get over its failure with the Suzuki. However, they have finally come up with a solution – the Skoda.
Volkswagen: life after Suzuki and why Skoda is so important to its plans.
Currently, they are working on setting up a new AOO/AO/A segment in India due to the pricing being low yet the emerging market expertise remains strong. However, Seat is still depending on financial and intellectual support from German. But, this new model is expected to be a big hit in the future due to its cost as well as its low cost engine.  Just in 2011 the sales climbed from 762,000 to 900,000 units. By 2018 we expect they will have sold 1.5 million vehicles.
Skoda’s five-year plan:
2012: Rapid saloon, Octavia saloon replacement, Yeti facelift, five-door Citigo
2013: Rapid Spaceback, Octavia Combi replacement, Superb saloon/Combi facelift
2014: Fabia hatchback/Combi replacement, Roomster replacement, Citigo MPV
2015: Superb saloon/Combi replacement, Yeti replacement
2016: new crossover larger than Yeti, new MPV larger than Roomster, Rapid/Citigo facelift
Skoda is made for those who have not experienced the economic crisis. They will be expanding to other countries but at this time they have no interest in selling their cars in North America. They are able to be so successful because each and every year they make their line more appealing which means they are known for making nice rides for a low price.
Skoda’s MQB modular platform
The future Skodas are expected to have a super flexible MQB platform which can be manufactured in any of the VW’s plants. The only thing that is going to have the current PQ platform is the Citigo, Rapid and next year’s Seat Toledo. The Rapid is a combination of the PQ26 and the PQ35. The Citigo will have the bespoke underpinnings but will have the engine, gearbox and the steering of the MQB.
Previously, the Skoda was made to be able to run on a variety of different platforms. However, in the future you can expect the plant architecture to reduce build times by 30% and the cost by 20%.
All of the drivetrains for this model will come from VW. You can expect components such as plug in hybrids and electro mobility as well as CNG and LPG engines. Additionally, this brand will expand its other models such as, RS, Greenline, Scout, and Laurin and Klement. The Octavia, Superb and the Yeti are expected to remain with four wheel drive. Also, the SUV market will continue to expand with the Winfried Vahland. There is even the possibility of an additional Skoda model.
Anything else expected from Skoda?
We expect Skoda will also offer two SUVs and MPVs – MQB based. First, there will be a Yeti replacement. Second, there will be a MQB-B spinoff which currently has no name. Last, there is even the possibility of Skoda versions of the VW Caddy and T6 microbus.
