The Audi A7 has been being planned for a long time and it is a full five years since it was first seen. The concept car debuted in 2009 in Detroit as the Sportback and this came about after the production model was designed. The design was a reflection of Achim Badstubner’s idea of how the shape could be improved. Eventually, the A7 with a face lift as well as the S7 will go on sale ready for the 2015 model year.
The changes to the design will be pretty minimal. There will be new bumpers front and back as well as new lights. The grille will be changes as well. The headlights will be the matrix LED ones that were first seen on the 2015 A8 and the helical design for the rear lights will no longer be used, despite the fact that Wolfgang Egger, design chief at the time claimed they were the most expensive in all the Audi cars. The interior will have the latest MMI infotainment interface.
There will still be a base V6 engine which is a supercharged 3.0 litre 310hp or the option of a turbo diesel 3.0 litre V6. The S7 will have a twin turbo 4.0 litre V8 engine capable of 420hp. The new 2014 RS7 will be updated and so the twin Turbo V8 will be able to do 560hp. The European versiond will also have a small lift in power.
