Audi is about to release their first car of a subcompact size. As it became known recently, it will get a name of Q2 and its global premiere will be held in March next year at Motor Exhibition in Geneva.
The car will be represented in a segment of premium cars and will become a competitor to MINI Countryman. The car will be available for purchase in countries outside European countries. The representatives of the company said it won’t be probably sold in North America.
On car spy photos Audi Q2 Subcompact that were taken in Sweden during the testing of the prototype it can be seen that the car will have mixed styling features from Concept of Crosslane Coupe 2012 and label’s SUV characteristics.
Q2 is built on a shorter version of the modular MQB platform from VW Group. Its footprint will be a little shorter too.
The engines will be the same as in A1 and they will represent the row of 4 cylinder turbo powered gasoline and petrol units attached to manual of 6–speed or automatic of double–clutch that will be controlling the front of all the four wheels with the help of Quattro system from Audi. A hybrid version with the engine of 2 liter turbo powered also might appear in the row.
