Lamborghini saw their most successful model in the Gallardo and they sold 14,000 in ten years but with this car having reached the end of its cycle then they are working on finding something else to replace it with. The latest spy pictures show something that could be it. There is a lot of pressure to make this good, as the car manufacturer will be looking to equal or better their success. The new car is called the Cabrera.
The new Cabrera is still heavily camouflaged but the pictures are the best that have been seen of it yet. It is easier to see, for example, the difference between the air vents and the body work especially between the side window and back wheel. That particular panel looks similar to the Audi R8 side blade but it could easily be an extra piece of disguise to mislead. The headlamps also look rather odd but they are also probably a diversion to try to hide the fact that this is a Lamborghini.
Technical details have not been confirmed. However, it is expected that there will be a reworked version of the 5.2 litre V10 that is in the outgoing model, so that it can do 600 horsepower. It is expected to see a dual clutch gearbox like that in the R8 as opposed to the six speed or robotised options in the Gallardo or the ISR transmission from the Aventador. It is expected that it will lose some weight as Lamborghini have been experimenting with carbon fibre. This should help the car to compete alongside the McLaren 12C and Ferrari 458 Italia.
