The Hyundai i20 has been seen in testing before, but this time it was in Southern Europe and wearing less disguise than before.
This means that it was possible to see a bit more of the second generation car. The front grille is bigger and lower than on the current model and the headlights are more swept back. The rear lights are vertical and there is a spoiler on the tailgate and the indicators are on the mirrors. It is expected that this model will be bigger because the i10 has got bigger and so it will be expected that the two cars will need to be kept different by making it bigger.
The engine will be a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder or a 1.25 litre 4 cylinder petrol and there will be diesel options in the form of a 1.1 litre 3 cylinder and a 1.4 litre 4 cylinder engine. These will be a 6 speed manual in the standard version with an option of having an automatic if required. It is expected that the i20N will be a lot more interesting with the new performance division wanting to stand out.
It is expected that this car will be seen in Paris at the motor show this year and then may appear for sale this year or at the beginning of next year.
