Cadillac ELR caught testing in production form

It has been quite a dramatic course of time for the Cadillac ELR. It had been announced more than a year back that the car would be designed on exactly the same lines as the fetching Converj concept and since then it’s been pretty quiet on the front. The spy photographers have finally been able to capture some shots of the ELR in prototype form.  Till now we are aware that the new model will have the same basic Voltec powertrain like the Chevrolet Volt. It has a four-cylinder gas engine that supplies power to the electric motor. As per the prototype, the new model has a glass room decked with a solar panel but the tester dint had its roof hidden and not revealing any truth about the solar panel.
If one considers the style and design of the model, the prototype would surely be appreciated by the admirers of the Converj. The basic fastback silhouette is no more a dream now. The proportions are also quite intact but the wheels are slightly smaller and the front portion is a little longer. The prototype is quite striking and is an excellent example of fine work from the tip of the taillight to the top of front wheel. However, the small side view mirrors found in the Converj have been replaced by the functional ones.
With the prototype design almost ready one can expect the new Cadillac ELR to hit the markets in 2013 fall or in the year 2014.
