The Porsche Macan is their new baby Cayenne sitting below it in their range. It will share the market with the BMW X4, Audi SQ5 and Range Rover Evoque.The inside of the car has just been revealed.
The inside gives away the fact that the car is related to the Panamera and Cayenne as it has some typical features of Porsche such as the tall console which has lots of buttons on it. It does have a new feature of a storage space below the touchscreen
The Macan seen has paddleshifters and seven speed PDK transmission but there will also be a six speed manual version available as well. There is a stopwatch on the top of the dashboard which shows that the car must have a Sports Chrono pack which has lap recording functions as well as timers in digital and analogue.
Design Chief for Porsche, Muchael Mauer has confirmed that the Macan will put the company ahead in terms of styling with regards to sports cars. It will have a choice of four or six cylinder drivetrain and either be a six speed manual or seven speed twin clutch gearbox. It is expected that there will be six choices of engine. These will be a 2.0 TDI 4 cylinder which can give 187 bhp and 258 lb / ft torque and a 3.0 TDI V6 261 bhp with 369 lb / ft torque for diesel options. It will have two petrol options in the form of a 2.0 TFSI 4 cylinder capable of 237 bhp and 258 lb/ft torque and a 3.0 TFSI V6 with 288 bhp and 295 lb/ft torque. There will additionally be a Turbo version which will have 345 bhp and be a 3.0 litre V6. A hybrid has been confirmed as well, which will have the same drivetrain as the Audi Q5 Hybrid Quattro.
The car is expected to be on sale from autumn 2014 as cost form £35,000 with the expected sales being 75,000 a year.
