Mercedes AMG released the GT R on June 24, 2016. Many car enthusiasts thought that it was an incredible vehicle. For example, Sports Auto took it for a test run around the Nurburgring track. It covered 12.9 miles in seven minutes and ten seconds. Recently, sports enthusiasts became excited when reports emerged that Mercedes AMG was testing another version of the GT R.
However, further investigations into these claims revealed that Mercedes was evaluating another sports car instead of a GT R variant. More specifically, Mercedes AMG was testing a GT Black Series at the Nurburgring track. Tobias Moers, the current CEO at this Mercedes-Benz subsidiary, had stated that the GT Black Series would be ready by the end of the year.
The Visible Features of the GT Black Series
Spy shots of the GT Black Series, which are available on https://youtu.be/TOSn5ARrqv4, revealed a couple of things about this car. For example, it has a lightweight plexiglass windshield. You can also see two exhaust pipes on either side of the car. More specifically, these pipes are behind its diffuser. You can also see that this GT Black Series has a roll cage.
The Likely Features of the GT Black Series
Unfortunately, some features of the GT Black Series remain hidden despite these shots. For example, we cannot see the car’s engine. However, we can speculate about it. For example, it is likely that the GT Black Series will have a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine. We can also expect 603 horsepower from it and torque of 664 pound-feet.
Comparing the GT Black Series with Cars
Mercedes AMG will release the GT Black Series in 2019. It will have more horsepower and torque than the GT R will. However, its principal competitors will not be Mercedes-AMG sports cars. Instead, it will be the Porsche 911 GT RS and the Ferrari 488. Industry analysts already predict that the GT Black Series will outpace these competitors in sales because of its superior features and performance.
