The redesigned Mazda 6 Sedan 2014 is a highly anticipated car. The new version is to debut this year at the Paris auto show. Mazda intends to redesign it completely, going right from the scratch.
It is going to be nice to see how the Skyactiv technologies will blend in together. The 2014 version is meant to return based on the global market strategy. This means the production of the cars will be same for all markets, this is similar to the first generation car production. If you wish to imagine how the new 6 is going to be, well it will be somewhere between the current generation US spec, narrow versions of the European cars. The current offering by Mazda is quite decent in terms of driving. In fact, it is fun and interesting to drive. However, with the standards in terms of fuel and economy rising, it needs a bit of work in that area. The Skyactiv chassis and the specifications of the engine can be viewed completely in the new, reformed CX-5 crossover.
If you analyze the CX-5, you will find the Mazda 6 to be light in weight and also having a strong structure. One of the highlights about this car is the sexy sheetmetal which is even sexier than the previous offering. It draws a great deal of inspiration from the Takeri concept which is from the last year. This is in reference to Kodo, which is new design language that made its debut with the CX-5. Considering the fact that there is a close resemblance to the Minagi concept, the new 6 may to a larger extent Takeri. With the details mentioned above, it seems like the changes in terms of production will largely restrict to mere door handles, a light catching surface which is right above the rocker panel and is apparently smaller than the Takeri.
The company already made an announcement that the 2014 version will have a Skyactiv engine which is based on the automatic transmissions and six speed manual. The engine may come in a D diesel kind, however the company hasn’t confirmed the news as yet. The expected date or time by when it will reach our shores is going to be sometime this year. The 272 hp, coming from 3.7 liter is the outgoing lot, as it won’t be able to survive the design. This means the expectations of an hybrid version is high, as it will be able to combat the gas electric competitors.
A few cars can pose competition to this vehicle. For example, the Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima, Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Kia Optima, Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata.
The Mazda 6 is likely to make an entry in 2014, it would be in the auto show debut in Paris. As far as the price is concerned, it will be too early to quote anything. Going by the trend of the earlier cars, don’t expect the sticker to go any further than the current price, which is of $21,520.
