2013 Opel Astra GTC OPC spied at Nurburgring

With the Opel Astra GTC official it’s really no bigger reason to hide this prototype with so much camouflage. But, this is not an ordinary GTC, this is the more powerful OPC version developing some 300 horsepower from a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine.

Just to be sure to get all of the power on the road, the new OPC will use a mechanical Quaife-type differential instead of the old electronic “artificial limited slip differential” found in the last generation Astra OPC.

According to insiders, this Astra OPC will be more extreme and hardcore than the old one, thanks to a very track oriented chassis. Of course the big Brembo brakes will help the driver to get the maximum out of this car. Optical changes will be a different and more aggressive looking front spoiler with bigger air intakes that we can see more clearly for the first time now. A big rear spoiler (almost a wing) and a fat exhaust pipe on each side of the back rounds up the optical package. Expect the Astra GTC OPC to hit a show room close to you in mid 2012.

And for all you American fans, rumors are talking about this one coming to you as a hot Buick version.
