Chrysler’s SUV brand, Jeep will be expanding its line-up with an addition of a subcompact SUV that is due in 2013 and what appears to be the first mule for the subcompact SUV from Jeep and Fiat has been spotted during winter testing in Northern Sweden. Hidden under a wider and longer body of the Fiat Qubo this mule took its first steps to test the drive train and platform.
Avaliable as both front-wheel drive and four-whel drive, this subcompact SUV will use Fiat engines such as the 1.4 litre Multiair petrol engine as well as the 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre JTDm diesel engines.
Jeep CEO Mike Manley has already confirmed that this car has its ok and that they are already working on it. Manely has also commented that the subcompact SUV will draw some styling from the Wrangler. He said: “imagine a slightly softer and smaller updated version of the Wrangler?s iconic grille and headlight design and you’ll have a good idea of how its front end should look.
The Jeep subcompact SUV is mainly aimed against the Mini Countryman and the Nissan Juke and the upcoming subcompact SUV?s from Ford and GM that are also in the works.
