The new Chevrolet Sonic based baby SUV from GM has been spotted again, and this time during cold weather testing in Northern Sweden.
We know that Ford is working on a smaller SUV based on the Fiesta, and this is the direct rival from GM. Based on a slightly stretcher platform from the new Sonic, GM is developing a smaller brother to the Captiva and we will see this one with both Chevrolet and Opel badges. We suspect that there will be only minor changes to grille and front lights between the two versions.
This compact Sonic SUV will probably come in both front- and four-wheel drive versions and will be powered by a set of diesel and petrol engines.
The new compact SUV is designed and engineered by GM’s Korean R&D centre, the same division that was responsible for the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Beat.
Expect to see it in its full glory in 2012.
