About time too, Nissan have at last updated the Altima. I say “about time too”, because Nissan seems to be behind Chevrolet, with its 2013 Malibu and the Toyota Camry. So you may have not even given the old Altima a thought. We have spotted the new one albeit heavily disguised and it is reported that it will be in the dealerships as early as late 2012.
Despite the camouflage we can gather that the front of the vehicle has been redesigned to look like a prettier version of the 2012 Nissan Versa whilst round the back, and from the photos we saw it looks a little like the rear end of the latest Nissan Maxima. There has been some redesigning of the rear lights too.
Under the camo you can almost seem similarities to the 2010 Ellure concept car. The new Altima, from what we can see, has a C-pillar that is visible to way beyond the back wheels so we feel that this car will be completely new and not an update, there are some great things promised for this one.
Having said that, the basis of the power unit and gear-box will not change a great deal. Back comes the automatic transmission and a standard 4 pot motor with an optional V6. The rumors of a 2.0 liter Turbo option have been quashed by our sources. The new version however, will benefit from the latest fuel saving and efficiency technology necessary for today’s costly motoring and environmental issues. Nissan are obviously well aware that Toyota, Kia, Chevrolet and Hyundai have produced their offerings and will not be left behind.
