The reveal of the Mercedes Benz GLA-class was not a big surprise as many people already knew that it was coming. It was expected that there would be online information about the car, which shares the CLA sedan platform, before its Frankfurt Motor Show debut. It was also expected that there would soon be a hot AMG available too. Mercedes is well known for producing AMG variants of almost everything that it offers.
The new GLA will be the same form what can be seen in the pictures of a disguised model on the Nurburgring. It is expected that this crossover model will be a GLA45 and have the 2.0 litre four cylinder, turbocharged engine that is in the CLA45 AMG. It is also thought that it will have a seven speed, dual clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive. It is likely to have less power, offering about 360hp.
Although the disguise gives very little away it is expected that this will have the enhancements that all of the AMG models have with regards to aerodynamics and aesthetics. There have been reports that there will be quad exhausts, a diffuser and bigger intake son the front of the vehicle. There are also uprated brakes under the AMG wheels.
It is expected that it will not be long before this model will be available. A debut at the end of 2014 could be possible perhaps at the next Geneva Motor Show.
