The C7 Corvette did not seem to be that popular at the Super Bowl, but it will still be one of the biggest attractions in car racing. These recent pictures of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray show it being tested by engineers and it has safety lights fitted to both the back and the front of the car. These are the types of lights that are normally put on to a pace car and with the history of General Motors with regards to preparation for Indianapolis 500 it looks like they could be getting the car ready for the race next month.
Chevrolet have not confirmed or denied that the vehicle is a pace car. It will be following in the footsteps of the Camaro Convertible Hot Wheels Edition that will be being used for races but no confirmation has been made that it will be a pace car.
The C7 has a few features that are interesting. It has small strobes in the lower grille and a light bar in the rear window. The LED’s on the side headlights will be able to flash. There is white tape over the rocker panels which implies that there may be changes there as well. If it is the face pace car for the Indianapolis 500 2013 then it will be the 12th time that a Corvette has led the field. The race happens on Sunday 29th May and so it will not be long until we can find out whether it will be taking part or not.
