Spy Shots of 2015 BMW i8 Coupe 9 August 2012, eagleweb @ 3:54 pm

We are up close and personal with i8 sport coupe, so much so that you can feel the keys getting in and starting the engine. This hybrid supercar is almost there. Our team of photographers got a closer look at the i8 coupe when it was out on its test drive in Europe. Going by what we have seen on the previous test mules, it looks like BMW has built a liking to have a blue with white camouflage. Moreover, now we have the first time look of the car this close, showing it rear mounted pack and a peak into the interiors as well.
A Close Look under the Hatch and the Cabin
There is a strong resemblance with the BMW efficient dynamics concept and both the current version i8 coupe under production as well as the i8 Spyder variant. However, going by the spy shots, it is quite certain that some kind of work needs to be done before the car is on for sale sometime in 2014. The likely price for the 2015 model will range between $150,000 to $200,000. If you check out the under the rear glass region, you will get a glimpse of the lithium polymer batteries. Setting all this aside, it is certain that the i8 that comes to the BMW dealership will not have such mechanical glitches.
The battery placement does not look too good, but, i8 has a 2+2 seating set up coming with a 131 hp motor at the front end of the car. With the centrally placed battery, you will find the weight of the vehicle evenly distributed. Especially when it has a 220 bhp with 1.5 liter 3 gasoline engine which occupies enough space in the back of the cabin. However, the plug in performance-oriented specs is still quite impressive. This car comes with an all-electric operation system that takes you 20 miles and the range is between 0-60 mph in a span of <0.5 seconds. The approximate fuel economy overall comes to a 70 mpg.
The irony with i8 is that the cabin looks similar to the other BMW offerings on the market. It is quite visible through the pictures as to how the console is mounted over the cabin with door locks, temperature controls, hazard lights, fan settings etc. there is however one small gauge that we could point out, it has something marked on it, it could be markings of 70, 130 or 170. The numbers might be the figures that were being monitored.
