For the fans, the brand new Renaultsport Clio is right here. It was spotted in its final phase of testing. Our spy photographers managed to get a peak, of course the full reveal would be at the 2012 Paris motor show that is going to be held this month.
These pictures definitely give a clear view of what he Renaultsport Clio is going to be like. The sporty appeal with its RS body gives away the clue that the new car is one of the best in the offering. The rumors about Renaultsport Clio going a bit soft have been on for a while. It suggests that there could be a dual clutch kind auto transmission, which offers a 1.6-liter engine. The devotees of this brand are likely to miss the revs of having a 2.0 engine, which is more like a power band. The general combination that is coming from the company may not be sufficient enough to brand this as one of the eco-friendly match in comparison to its competitors.
How is it possible to suggest that Renaultsport Clio might go paddle shift? The answer to this question lies in our spy shots. When you have a closer look at it, you can gather from it that there lies a strong evidence of silvery kind of shifter which exists behind the wheel.
It is definitely not the first kind to have a PlayStation gearbox. In fact, the VW trio group, including Seat Ibiza Cupra, VW Polo GTi and Skoda Fabia VRS are all offering the twin clutch form of paddle shift transmissions and of course, a twin charged motor. The Renaultsport Clio will come with 1.4 liter, also offering a twin charged engine of 178bhp that comes with a 1.6-liter pot which is good for the same 197 bhp as compared to the current offering of Renaultsport Clio RS 200.
We’re getting 200bhp again? Hardly progress…
Is it going to be a 200bhp, same as earlier?
If yes, then there is hardly any progress made in the department. However, there is a possibility of an increased acceleration which could bring a gearshift and induction too.
The current version of Clio comes out with a 159 lb, however the new car will offer a 200 lb. considering that the current car is still hitting a 62 mph in almost 6.9 seconds, this new model is said to be quicker. At least, this is what our spy shots are suggesting, a better C02 emission and better cruising of course.
Ah, but think of the increased acceleration that forced induction torque and instantaneous gearshifts will bring.
The current RS Clio twists out 159lb ft. at 5100rpm, but the new car will have around 200lb ft., and it’ll arrive lower down the power band. Given that the zingy current car still hits 62mph in 6.9sec, the new model seen in our spy shots should be a good deal quicker through the gears, with better cruising manners and CO2 emissions to boot.
What about this RS Clio makeover then?
What is being suggested about the makeover for the RS Clio?
The front side of the car is getting a cleaner and much more integrated version to it’s already F1 inspired look. Of what we have seen and gathered so far, the front wing has seen with some alterations, the front grille seems a bit winder, more like a replacement to the chromed foglights.
There is a bit of flare to the side skirts too, you can experience a low alloy of wheels. The rear too will receive the diffuser arrangement which completes the twin exhausts. Do notice the five doors on the car. Unlike the hot Clio, the latest RS model comes with a five door option. Actually, the three door has been more like binned together for the new Clio.
Well, this offering seems more friendly with its body style but slightly less with the powertrain. The latest RS is definitely going to a refined option for the daily driver. However, does it make you feel that this car is strayed a bit too far from what it is was on its first mantra?
