The next Audi A5 has been spotted during testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. Spy photographers saw it ahead of its launch next year.
The test car looks like an early one and it has the existing A5 bodywork with the running gear of the new model.
There will be some changes to the design as well with what is expected to be an evolutionary effect. It is an elegant car especially for a mid-sized Audi and this is why the design has not really changed over the years. However, there are rumours about some changes being made this time. It seems like the front end will be bolder and will have the Audi single frame grille which is now their trademark. There will also be a change to the air intakes which will be more aggressive as well as larger.
It is expected that the coupe will arrive first in spring 2016 and then there will be a cabriolet about six months after that.
The Audis will be two door cars and are based on the B9 components that are used on the next A4. It has been called the MLBevo and is lighter and stiffer as well as more efficient although it is only slightly modified. There will also be a longer wheelbase which will mean that there is more legroom for passengers. There will be the option of 20in rims and there will be carbon ceramic brakes and new lighting. This will be LED or matrix and there are new assiatnce systems as well.
It is expected that there will be three choice of engine. There will either ne a 1.8 TFSI petrol capable of 180bhp, a 2.0 TFSI petrol which can do 245bhp and a diesel which will be a 3.0 V6 258bhp.
