Land Rover has a selection of models on offer at the moment which all seem pretty similar. The Evoque and Freelander LR2 are very close as are the Range Rover, range Rover Sport and Discovery/LR4. The company are trying to clear up this confusion and are starting by using three pillars to base their product portfolio around.
The first will be the next generation Discovery and it will have a family of its own once it has been developed. The first few models can be seen in some spy shots.
There is a lot of Evoque bodywork on the test mule pictures but the photographer has said that it is the baby Defender that will replace the Freelander. However, this does look like it could be the performance version as it has a pair of exhaust tops near the trailer hitch and large air apertures on the front of the car.
However, there is a lot of camouflage and the panels do not fit properly and so it is actually very hard to know exactly what is going on.
However, a recent update has stated that the car is actually a test mule for the next jaguar SUV. It has been suggested that the jaguar has a 2.0 litre engine. The photographer was not able to explain why the bodywork is different on the mules, if they are Jaguar ones to previous spy shots. It is all a bit of mystery, which will no doubt be unravelled in time.
