The latest pictures of the Honda civic Type-R were taken when it was testing on the Nurburgring. It was back in 2010 when the last generation model went out of production and its 2.0 litre four cylinder engine produced smaller figures than the Honda Civic Si, which was the American market car.
It looks very much like this new model will be more powerful. The photos show it as having four exhaust pipes as well an intercooler positioned behind the back bumper, which means that it will be turbocharged. This is no big surprise as it want to compete with the Renault Megane RS Trophy, Ford Focus RS500 and Opel Astra OPC.
It is expected that the 2.0 litre engine will be able to provide 300 horsepower as that would match what the competition can produce. It also looks like it will have some changes to improve how aerodynamic it is such as an aggressive spoiler, big rear wing and rocker panels. It also has red Brembo brake calipers behind the sporty style wheels with their low profile tyres. It is expected that the car may be debuted at Frankfurt or Geneva ready to get to the showrooms next year.
