Subaru have found that the Outback has been a really good seller for them in the past especially most recently when it has the looks of a crossover but the utility of a station wagon. The model is now being redesigned and the first pictures have been taken of it when in Europe doing some testing with an Audi Q5.
It has a lot of disguise, which makes it hard to see what has changed. However, it is still obvious that the main look will be the same. There are a lot of parts that look like they are the same as the new Legacy, such as the mirrors which are mounted on the doors, the bonnet with it creases and the head lights. The wind screen looks to be at a steeper angle and the tail lights look more vertical and thinner.
It is expected that the car will use the same 2.5 litre four cylinder engine from its Sedan counterpart and possibly the 3.6 litre six-cylinder as well. But there have also been rumours that it may have a smaller six-cylinder and turbo four-cylinder option as well, but they may not appear at first.
It is unlikely to be long before the car is unveiled as it is expected to debut in April at the New York Auto Show. It is expected to have changes, not only to the exterior and platform but also inside, being more luxurious with more tech and increased sound deadening as well.
