Several prototypes of the Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hellcat driven by the SRT development team have been photographed recently.
There were rumours of the Hellcat around in May which was expected to be a supercharged WEMI V8 6.2 litre and these shots show that this could be true. The rumours said that the powerful engine would first be seen on the next generation Challenger which should start to be produced in the middle of 2014 ready to be sold in 2015.
The cars that have been spotted are probably test mules for these next generation vehicles. They seemed to have larger air intakes which were positioned lower which could mean that more air is due to be entering through the front of the vehicles. There is also a different exhaust set up at the back as well. The changes mean that the vehicle is capable of 640bhp which means that it will easily compete with the SRT Viper and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
