There have been sightings of an ELR lately which look like it could mean there is an ELR-V around soon. It looks like they could possibly be working on a higher end version of the car, which is a plug-in hybrid. The vice president of General Motors, Mark Reuss was rather coy about it all when asked about it, but this only raised even more suspicions. This was especially true when he mentioned that they would be ‘expanding the tuning envelope’.
There have been some spy photos taken of a red ELR which has some clues that make it look sportier. The bigger brakes make it look like this could be the case. There are four-piston Brembo calipers as well as larger rotors which have come from the Buick Regal GS which look like they would be pretty powerful.
There are also five spoked wheels with double arms which make the calipers and rotors hard to see. There is also thought to be a new grille underneath the camouflage. However, apart from this there is not a big change to it.
Another hint that it could be looking at a more powerful ELR is the fact that testing with it was a Tesla Model S.
However, this is still not convincing evidence that it is a ELR-V. The main reason for this is because it does not seem to go along with the way that Cadillac tends to be developing its models at the moment. It could be that the car will be a VSport instead which will put it in the same category as the CTS VSport.
This could also be the reason for the changes in the look of the car as well as the new brakes. However, it does not explain why it was testing with the Tesla Model S. It could of course be that they are trying to make the car a bit more powerful, but at the moment it really is anyone’s guess.
