Arguably it is a fact that every Corvette has always had a good price to performance equation. It was very much the comparator with the Porsche 911 until the Nissan GT-R came along. There were always lots of arguments between car enthusiasts about whether there was much performance for the price and what else you got instead or perhaps how little you got.
Chevrolet seems to now be trying to change this argument though. There have been some spy shots taken at the General Motors test centres which seem to illustrate this. There were a selection of cars spotted which were aimed at benchmarking the new C7 Corvette ZR1. There were two C7 Corvette Stingrays as well as a Audi R8 V10 Spyder, Porsche 911 Carrera S, McLaren MP4-12C, Corvette ZR1 and Ferrari 458 Italia. The car was also seen in the back roads that were used when testing the Corvette Stingray.
However it is still a long way from the 700 horsepower that the C7-series ZR1 has promised. If it is being positioned alongside these other giants in the market it could be the first time that cost is no object as power will be the main talking point.
