BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe spied testing 10 September 2012, eagleweb @ 6:55 pm

The BMW Company has now decided that from now on every model that has two doors will be a part of the even-numbered series. This implies that the 3 series coupe will now be known as the 4 series. However, the new all new four-door coupe is an exception to this rule. The company had launched the 6 Series Gran Coupe this year but the all-new 4 Series Gran Coupe is a smaller version of the same design that is being conceptualized in the U.S.The new prototype can be found on the same lines as the upcoming 3 Series GT hatchback but the sleek roofline and the lower and longer deck lid indicates it is a different design.  The new model has the same long hood that has become a trade mark of the 2012 3 Series sedan (F30). According to the spy photographers, the new model would be longer compared to the standard F30 sedan.
There has been no official announcement about the engine of the 4 Series Gran Coupe but one can expect it to be the same as the current 3 Series sedan.  It implies that we can look forward to models like 428i Gran Coupe and 435i Gran Coupe with the BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
Along with this model, we have also come across the BMW 4 Series time and again this year in both coupe and convertible form with retractable hard top up and down.
