2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class spy photos

The next generation G-Class prototype was spied recently that was wider (about 4 inches more) than the current model, yet retain similar ground clearance dimensions. The exterior is not expected to get change much, if anything at all. The interior and platform are expected to get major updates, though. Expect the interior to get the latest technology, and retain the luxurious parts. A major weight loss is also expected, as much as 882 pounds (400 kilograms), which will make it: much better off-road, more fuel-efficient, and relieve stress on key parts (brakes/suspension). Improved handling is also expected to improve. The G-Class should be offered in six- and eight-cylinder engines (two versions of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8), with a possible V-12 option as well. Europe should also get a six-cylinder diesel option that is unlikely to be offered in the United States.
Expect the next-gen G-wagen to be revealed in late 2017 and should be in showrooms by early 2018. Pricing should remain close to the current model, which starts at $120,000 for the G550 model.
