2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 spy photos

Looks like Ford Motor Company is sick of cleaning sand from its teeth, and is evening the horsepower score with Chevrolet.

Excellent. The competition in the American pony car/muscle car arena is resulting in some very impressive cars for reasonable prices these days. Loving it.

Everyone forgot that Ford had the hp title with the last GT500 at 662? Dodge took it with the Hellcat and Ford vowed they would take it back when they start making another GT500. At least mention Dodge in the article instead of Chevy because their new Camaro still hasn’t beat the last GT500 in hp.

Gotta love this war…not only are we getting REAL! Muscle/sports cars but even the bottom-of-the line cars are hitting low 14s to high 13s in the 1/4 mile and the upper cars can really take turns well ((cept Challengers)) and have great brakes…keep the good fight going..also the parts department alive and well…

is my take I’m a ford guy but for ford to get these numbers which equal or out do Chevy is amazing my teachers used to always say nothing beats displacement well it seems that’s a lie Chevy is so big and bad but they have been having problems keeping up in the house race even though they are using large displacement motors it’s funny a 5.0 is putting out more power than a 6.2 or whatever the he’ll Chevy is using now and both are using power adders honestly to me Chevy has been out of the big hp war for over a yr now it’s all about mopar and ford and ford edges that victory to me due to reliability to bad the vetted actually looks pretty good but any time I can keep up with a vetted in a gt something ain’t rite 🤔 and last I recall ford was racing for the hell cat not a camaro I wish ford would come back with the cobra jet and blow the doors off of everyone just imagine a modular 429 😍 tuned by Ford racing OMFG

No one loses in a HP war between Ford and Chevy, we all win.

What a time to be alive. Im not even a ford guy but the big 3s battle for the top (in performance cars and trucks) is making for some awesome awesome fun.

  4. Lance Ross says:

All the horse power in the world doesn’t mean anything if you can’t put it to the ground. It’s quality and reliability I’m after and ford has that for me. Go drive a ford.

  5. Jerry Taylor says:

Camaro lineup is thoroughly outgunning the Mustang. (Only the Camaro’s base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine fails to best its Ford analogue, the Mustang Ecoboost)

Although down on HP/TQ the Camaro 2.0T blew the Ecoboost Stang away 😂

  6. Alex Cossin says:

I’m not understanding this. If Ford guys want more horsepower than the NEW ZL1 they can buy an OLD gt500 that has more horsepower anyway. If I had to guess, The new gt500 will eclipse the hellcat.

  7. D.j. Moffett says:

That 5.2 is cool and all, but maybe bump up the displacement to a 5.8/351 with one big turbo? A little extra displacement won’t hurt and it can still be a DOHC of course. The Camaro is rocking the 6.2 already, it’s going to be great watching this horsepower war.

  8. Bob Daykin says:

When your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. HP isn’t the issue; its an easy 12 second car. It’s fat. All that a twin turbo V8 will do is launch rich kids into trees that much faster.
