2014 Acura MDX 22 October 2012, eagleweb @ 10:56 am

Acura MDX, a next generation model having towing capability is being tested at the desert while towing a trailer. Though there is no sign of visible bare sheet metal , it could tell what to expect out of it apart from its towing capability. The MDX was introduced initially in 2007 which hasn’t worked well in the market and later it was updated in 2010. It has got 5th position in five-crossover comparison test which hints you that it is still better for driving in its defined segment.  With recently introduced the new RDX crossover and ILX compact sedan, Acura is in the throes of overhauling its entire lineup. It will be figured out when the MDX squared away, which sedan to place between the ILX and RLX—the TL or the TSX.
Platform: From the spy photos it is pretty much clear that size of MDX is going to be increased. And it is expected to have three-row seating and crisp exterior styling. It is not different when it comes to wheel base. More space in the back of the cabin will have its place with that added length.
For softer and less-exciting duds the Acura MDX would suit lot better. JX crossover, which was targeted directly at Acura looks same as MDX with hardly identifiable differences. More opinion and judgment will be out when we can have more visibility of MDX.
Rivals: BMW X5, Infiniti JX, Lexus RX350, Land Rover LR4, Mercedes-Benz ML-class.
It is estimated to be arrived at as soon as early next year. We will have a better look once the production is completely done. Look for the production MDX to go on sale sometime next year as a 2014 model.
