The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG didn’t have much disguising when it came to the photos you see. There is just a really thin film covering the front half and the upper rear. A few noticeable differences from previous models. You will find that there is now a quad exhaust and larger wheels. It has a more sylish and sporty appearance than the 2012. The front air intakes are also slightly larger.
Less Weight, More Power
At the Detroit Auto Show the sixth-generation SL had been released by Mercedes. The first thing you notice the design feature of the upright grill on the new model. The thing you will appreciate the most is going to be the aluminum chassis on the new SL as you sit behind the wheel. If it had been made of steel, you could expect and additional weight of almost 300 pounds. The 536 bhp 5.5 liter V8 engine is what you can find tucked in with the new chassis. We are certain that performance overall will receive a little bump up.
Within 4.5 seconds you can expect to go from 0 to 60 with the twin-turbocharged 4.7 liter V8 on a 7-speed automatic transmission on the SL550. With that as a base figure, we can expect to see an improvement in the SL63 AMG to go to 60 within about 4 seconds flat. The SL550 also had a maximum speed of 130mph. We don’t know for sure what the SL63 AMG will have, but we can expect it to be somewhat faster to a degree.
The Geneva Auto Show on March 6th is likely going to provide us with the pricing and full specs of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG. We are looking forward to it!
